Why this exists
It's usually not the rifle

I'm Loz Hemmings, a gunsmith in Yeppoon with family roots in the Birmingham gun trade. After years of answering the same questions across the bench, I used my other company — Mapped Out Solutions, which builds professional training for mining and other high-risk industries — to build the long range course I wished existed. First Round Effect is the result: built to a professional eLearning standard, in metric, for Australian shooters.

Is the app included?
The CCG-LR app is free to download and works on its own (the solver runs on a demo rifle). Build your own rifle profiles, DOPE logging and truing — validated on-device, offline, with no account. Enrolled learners get every update.
What's the Field Pack?
The app makes your printable range cards for free. If you want the real thing, the CCG Field Pack is our premium, weatherproof branded DOPE book with a signwritten Cap Coast cover and custom quick-reference cards. It's an optional add-on at checkout — $60 for the first 100 buyers, then $110 (Australian postage included).
Do I need a licence and a rifle?
Yes — it suits a licensed shooter who already handles a rifle safely. You'll get the most from it with a centrefire rifle, a scope that can dial or hold, and a willingness to record your data. It supplements — never replaces — supervised live fire.
Is it for beginners or experienced shooters?
Both. It runs in a deliberate order from the fundamentals to confident hits at distance, with advanced topics (load development, ELR) for when your basics are solid.
Metric only?
Metric-first throughout (metres, m/s, Mil), with MOA referenced. That's how Australians shoot — and it works anywhere that shoots in metric.
How long do I have access?
No expiry on your course access — return to any module any time. The app is free and yours to keep.
What's your refund policy?
If you complete Module 1 (the orientation) and the course isn't what was described, email within 14 days for a full refund.
Is there a certificate?
Yes — pass the 50-question final (80%) and you earn a certificate of completion.
